To Be or Not To Be….

Sometimes things just pop into my head and I feel compelled to put them in writing. Today, my brain said, “What has happened to people being nice?”

There used to be a time when the person in front of you would hold open the door for you instead of letting it slam in your face. There used to be a time when people said, “please” and “thank you” and “you’re welcome.” There used to be times while driving that someone would let you in while you were trying to merge. There used to be a time when people didn’t beep the second the light turned green. There used to be a time when people said “Hello” and acknowledged your presence.

Where have people’s manners gone? It’s not that hard to say “please” and “thank you” and “you’re welcome.” How hard is it to say “hello” and smile at someone? We all need to feel acknowledged, appreciated, respected, and just generally valued.

We live in an instant gratification and hurry-up-do-it-now society where life is a series of BRB, LOL, TTYL, and OMG. Let’s add back in “please,” “thank you,” “you’re welcome,” and “hello.”

To Be or Not To Be nice and considerate. That is the question. Which will you choose? I know which I chose.

Until Next Time,
J
